PVR Racing Update

PVR held another Busch Series race last Friday night from the Sarber Motor Speedway, my connection was a appropriate S word, so I didn't race but about 20 laps. Jason35 went on to win the race. Next week is Lowe's Motor Speedway at Charlotte, North Carolina. PVR is also having its cup race as I speak at Sarber, and next weeks race will be at Lowes also. Tuesday night will be the final race of the 4 race test season for the Craftsman Truck Series, held at Memphis Motor Speedway. I plan to race there, considering that it looks like there will be no more CTS races after Memphis since interest is low in the series.

Racing League Tips

Todays's topic is racing leagues. There are a total of about approximately 1,000 racing leagues on the internet, using all different genres of racing games. The majority use Nascar-themed games, some use Formula 1 and IRL games, some use Rally or GTR type road racing games. Some are free, some you must pay a yearly fee to continue racing in the league. Occasionally, there will be an instance in which you pay to drive on one race, but most of the time these races are charity events, with the proceeds going to a worthy cause. But cheapskates don't have to worry, there are plenty of free leagues to choose from, although they may not charge you to race, all of them gladly accept donations for server repair and maintinence. Most leagues don't accept applications from just anybody that comes along, most will have you participate in a try-out race before letting you race in their league. I will try to explain some things you can do to get in a racing league that uses the Nascar Racing 2003 Season simulation.(Due to the fact that I am not very knowledgable in other racing league games) If you want to join a league, sometimes all you have to do is stop in the game's chat lobby and say that you are looking for a league, most of the time someone will respond quickly, as most leagues are always recruiting. Other times, you may have to participate in a public race thats open to anyone, most leagues have recruitment races before their racing schedule starts. Some might call it "preseason thunder" races, but whatever they are called they are all recruitment races one and the same. Here's some tips on how to get noticed: 1. Do not "flame" anybody at any time. A hotheaded racer will not get any attention, except maybe when he gets booted out of the race. 2. Be courteous, give people plenty of room to race, and definitely don't wreck anyone, on purpose or not. The guy that causes a crash in a tryout race never gets invited to join the league. 3. Don't use curse words in your chat, most leagues frown at that. 4. Run a clean race, it doesn't matter if you win the race, chances are if you run a clean race in a professional manner you will most likely get noticed and will get a invitation to join. If you run a clean race and win the race, you are almost certain to get a invitation to join the league. And finally; 5. Practice makes perfect, don't go racing online until you've run plenty of races in offline mode, I cannot stress how important this is, if you run online without practicing first, you won't win and you won't get into a league. So there are some tips on getting into a racing league, good luck!

1st Craftsman Truck Series race

I participated in my first CTS race at the Prime Velocity Racing league last night. Only 5 other people showed up, so it was kinda boring if you ask me. I led for about 5 to 7 laps before I burned my tires up and then PVR Webguy took the lead and never looked back. He went on to win the race, held at the Kentucky Motor Speedway, I finished 5th 1 lap down.

Following up on a previous news story, the Sierra.com multiplayer servers for the Nascar Racing 2003 Season game are back up, so get out there and continue trading paint!

rFactor

A new racing simulation is being developed by game developer Image Space Incorporated, featuring "ultra realistic dynamics, an immersive sound enviroment and stunning graphics" (quote from rFactor's website). The game will be highly moddable, so the online racing community is sure to create some great projects. Already, the US Pits, (www.uspits.com) is already developing a mod for the game. The first game to be released will be "SR Grand Prix", a road racing simulation. Early feedback from the racing community has been strong, as many people are very excited about the new sim. There are sure to be quite a few racing leagues developed as a result of the game. News on a possible stock car mod for the game has been quiet, due to the fact that Electronic Arts has the marketing liscense for all Nascar games till 2007. However, all the remaining types of auto racing should keep the Nascar guys occupied till then. The website for rFactor is www.rfactor.net. There you will find info on the game, and a signup section for email notifications and prize contests.

Racing News Vol. 1 May8th - 15th 2005

The Prime Velocity Racing League held its 12th race of its Busch Series on Friday night, May 13th. PVR Webguy took the checkers after a late race battle with Jason35, in one of the most exciting race finishes since the Las Vegas race earlier in the year. Then on Sunday night the Cup Series took to the track, with Justinuv winning at Richmond, and increasing his points lead in the series.
PVR is also starting a Craftsman Truck Series on Tuesday nights, at 9 PM EST, using the CTS mod for the Nascar Racing 2003 Season simulator.

In other news, the Sierra.com online racing servers for the NR2003 game have crashed, it is still uncertain whether it is just a simple server crash or if the Sierra.com people have finally cut off the NR2003 racing community. Lets hope its just a server crash, because tons of people are still utilizing the service, with approx. 500 people still racing on weekdays, with that number increasing to over 1,000 on weekends.

In Red Dog Racing League news, the field for the new IROC series for NR2003 is set, with 12 drivers in the running. People who did not make it into season 1 will get another chance at season 2. The IROC season will last approx. 12 weeks, spanning 6 races, one every 2 weeks. The top 3 finishers in the series will get some hardware to put on their mantel, as trophies are on tap for the top 3 drivers.

Welcome

Hi. I'm Smokey87. I'm a online Nascar Simulation driver and this blog was created to be an addition to the Sim Racing community. As some of you may know, the online racing community is just about the best community on the entire internet, where a multitude of people come together to share a common interest in racing. This blog will contain links to other sim racing websites, including online racing leagues. It will also contain information about online sim racing in general, but will mainly focus on the Nascar racing game "Nascar Racing 2003 Season", which many consider to be the best Nascar simulation ever made. Visitors to the blog are welcomed to post as many comments as you like, just keep it clean please, with no cursing. I will be working to gather material to post on this blog concerning internet sim racing, including interesting news items about various racing leagues and new mods and so on and so on.
